My work explores the physical manifestation of emotional experience, in particular the palpability of memory, trauma and healing. I find the process of making to be meditative, as the dance between material, technique and feeling drives the emerging abstract forms. Narrative is created in the carving of haptic curves; in apertures held safe by their surroundings, and by the juxtaposition of opaque and reflective surfaces that mirror inner and outer landscapes.
Whether casting a fragile vessel from fallen leaves, or carving a sculpture from rock formed millions of years ago, I work with organic materials to emphasise our shared existence and connection to the earth. Stone in particular is a tactile reminder of our cosmic origins, the material itself seemingly making a connection with me that often feels beyond explanation or description.
My practice is deeply rooted in expressing the human experience of being, through tangible objects that invite both touch and contemplation.
